INFORMATION ABOUT COURSE

In 2001/2002 starting in Poznań new course: Au Pair International PL.s.c Course for Qualified Child Minders. Basic course ( 130 hours) will take maximum 3 months.
Au Pair International PL s.c.Course for Qualified Baby Minders , ( 172 hours) will take maximum 6 months and will be organized for certificated nurses and midwifes.

Autorzy:

Włodzimierz Berdychowski - a doctor of anthropology, has for many years been engaged in the research of physical development of children and young people. Nowadays, he is interested in family's influence on development of children.In 1997, together with his wife - Aleksandra - also a doctor of anthropology, he established an Au Pair School. In 2000 the institution was admitted to IAPA (International Au Pair Association ) - the international organisation of high prestige. In Poland is President of Poland Au Pair Assocation ( PAPA).

Ewa Chróścicka - po ukończonym liceum o rozszerzonym programie języka niemieckiego, wyjechała jako Au Pair do Holandii. Następnie podjęła studia w Chicago w Akademii Języka Angielskiego prestiżowego Uniwersytetu św. Pawła (DePaul University - English Language Academy - . Thomas Harris - znany w Polsce jako autor książki "Milczenie Owiec" przybliża w niej polskim czytelnikom znakomitość tego Uniwersytetu). Ewa Chróścicka zdobytą wiedzę teoretyczną i praktyczną wykorzystuje przy tworzeniu unikalnych programów i specjalistycznych podręczników języka angielskiego i niemieckiego na potrzeby kursu kwalifikowanej opiekunki dzieci. Każdego potrafi nauczyć języka angielskiego i języka niemieckiego na poziomie podstawowym, tak aby używając języka obcego akt komunikacji między rozmówcami nie był zrywany.

Lectures will be delivered to all students while exercises will be held in groups of 10 persons. All exercises will have to be accepted currently on special exercise charts. The students will be admitted to the final examination on basis of credits for all exercises.
The main aim of this programme is to prepare a child minder, who can perform duties described in IAPA instruction. The child minder will get information about hygiene, nutrition, organization of a child's day, methodics of plays, use of contemporary technical means ( computer, Internet) in everyday activities and games. The theoretical knowledge gained during this course will enable the child minder to help children with learning, plays and other activities in period of growing up. Competence in initial diagnosing a disease and providing a child with first aid will warrant child's safety.

Detailed subjects:
PART I Rules of taking care of children
Purpose:

  • Learning rules of taking care of children.
  • Co-operation with parents in bringing their children up taking into consideration cultural differences characteristic for the Host Family.
  • Acquirement of skill of organizing and performing care of entrusted child.
  • Possibility of using modern internet technics for organizing different plays.

PART II Basic vocabulary Purpose:
  • Learning vocabulary necessary for communication with a foreign family. Understanding instructions and reacting to them.
  • Reaction in dangerous situations, using emergency telephone numbers, passing information to determined persons.
  • Understanding childish jargon.

PART III Computer technics Purpose:
  • Learning to use Internet, search services, install special programmes. Using Internet in everyday life.
  • Copying files, setting up mail boxes, using them by means of such programmes as Outlook Express or Bat.
